South Lake Union has always been a hub of innovation in Seattle. Once home to assembly plants, laundromats, and neighborhood grocers, the area has transformed over the last century into a vibrant mix of history and modern development. Visionaries like Paul Allen helped shape this transformation, and today the neighborhood continues to evolve with projects that reflect both its industrial roots and its forward-thinking spirit.
One of the milestones in this evolution is Onni South Lake Union, a dynamic residential development by the Onni Group. With a legacy of more than 50 years creating “work and play” environments across North America, Onni has redefined what modern residential living can look like.
A central element of this project is its vibrant outdoor common area, where community meets design. To bring this vision to life, GBA Architectural Products + Services partnered with Pompili Precast Concrete and Omega Morgan’s installation team to deliver a striking walkway system built from Precast Concrete and Glass Paver Panels. Each panel—some weighing up to 8,000 pounds—was carefully fabricated, shipped, and installed with precision using swivel brackets, boom trucks, dollies, and gantry cranes. After final cleaning and caulking, the result was a durable, functional, and visually engaging outdoor space that seamlessly integrates into Onni’s signature design approach.
The finished installation does more than provide a walkway—it elevates the entire community experience. By blending heavy-duty performance with light-transmitting beauty, the precast concrete and glass paver panels perfectly reflect the spirit of South Lake Union: honoring its industrial past while paving the way for inspired living.
